Reiki is a mind-body spiritual practice utilized by practitioners to aid in bringing about a state of deep relaxation for the recipient: optimization of systemic functioning in the body, clearing the mind and calming the emotions are common results. Reiki is becoming widely accepted as an integrative form of treatment in medical communities as health professionals affirm its ability to assist in the healing process of all types of medical ailments and distress.
Reiki is effective in non-pharmaceutical pain relief, reduces fatigue and illness in cancer treatment, speeds recovery from surgery, aides in relieving anxiety and depression, and helps those with chronic conditions find healthier paths and make clearer choices for coping with their illness.
Working with both a medical professional and a Reiki practitioner can greatly aide the effectiveness of medical and psychological treatment by providing a whole person, holistic approach to healing.
Practicing or receiving Reiki on a regular basis provides a foundation for spiritual growth and personal wellness.
Reiki is received fully clothed, either upon a reiki table or in a chair for ease and comfort depending upon the recipient. As many experience what is known as “reiki sleep” during a full session, a table is often preferred unless physical limitations, time or space dictate the ease of a chair. The practitioner uses a hands-on or hands-off approach, again directed by the comfort and ease of their client, and the dictates of discretion and propriety. A Reiki session will include a brief consultation, the application of Reiki, and a brief follow up assessment.
During Reiki treatment, all major organs and systems, such as the lymphatic, circulatory, nervous and digestive systems are offered Reiki in a gentle, soothing atmosphere created by the practitioner for the client.
