Just this past month I hit a block.
A rather overwhelming and unavoidable long-term project erupted out of nowhere, way too close to its deadline date. What should have been carefully undertaken over several months had become a nightmare of pressured, intricate, exact questionnaires, forms, programs and policies, navigated through the foreign land of an unfamiliar and bulky piece of software for which there was no training but a series of “help me” phone calls. (Key words here: Help Me)
With my usual fervour, I attacked the problem, knowing I have every resource and the answers are there (or I could create them!) After two and a half weeks of feverish work my reserves began to give out. I had not planned for this long an assault upon my time and resources. My frustration level was growing. This thing had become an evil task master in my life. I ate and slept and breathed it every day.
Does this sound familiar?
Your block may not be an online submission, but whatever it is, I am sure it is –
1) unexpected;
2) seems to ask more than you have;
3) feels unending.
Everything is energy. We are energy. Our problems are energy. How we use our energy is how we solve our problems.
In the midst of all this, I had to drag myself out to a meeting. Sitting there, I saw how exhausted, drained and frustrated I truly was. The concern of my gentle loving friends pointed out my need for help. Not for someone to do my task for me, but for me to re-energize and realign to be able to move forward and on.
I booked an appointment for energy work and took myself to the “body shop” for an oil change, new filter and to top off my reserves. In short, I took my body, mind and spirit in for a check up and recharge. Now I am cutting my day into manageable tasks because I have acknowledged my need to manage my energy around working through this problem. I have taken possession and control of my energy and my life. When my frustration level rises I know it is time to step back and recharge myself, take a breath and do something else, not barrel through. I am accepting living inside this project until it is finished. I am trusting the universe’s time instead of mine. And I am moving through my challenge.
What I really learned,
once again, is how important it is for us to acknowledge the flow of energy in our daily lives, and to stop and take care of our energy regularly. Since then I have watched my Reiki clients leave my healing space with that same wonderful sense of renewal, clarity and peacefulness I experienced. Energy work is the preventive maintenance of our lives. And Reiki provides a wonderful connection to recharge that energy. Even if you think everything is fine, you still need that check up. The oil changed. The battery charged. It’s what keeps your engine humming. Your energy is your precious resource. Like all true natural energy, it is renewable. How? Through energy work. Take good care of yours.
