Have you taken time to clear your inner and outer space, set your intentions and spend a little time with yourself in this new year?
If you have been absorbed with holidays, celebrations, people and travel, perhaps right now is a good time to set aside some time to center and focus, to clear yourself, your thoughts and your emotions, for this new year or new place in your life.
What is a personal space clearing and how can you do one?
Personal space clearing clears your energetic body and auric fields, and brings your physical body into balance in its rightful place as part of your whole energetic being, assisting you to mover forward more clearly and purposefully. Here are some simple ideas to help you find that place of centeredness and balance from which to begin a new year or a new phase of your life. **
Items you may want to gather:

* A candle – pick a color that appeals to you and then check Crystal Reiki’s Chakra candle chart to see what your color choice may be related to!
* Some incense – sage or cedar are best for clearing and can be fairly easily found. If something burning is not appealing to you, substitute essential oils such as rosemary, sage, thyme or oregano for grounding with eucalyptus or wintergreen for clarity.
* You may want a favorite notebook or journal, some quiet mediation music (here is a U-tube channel for quiet mediation music) and perhaps a gentle timer to help you keep time. Try to take at least 10-15 minutes, a half hour is lovely if you can! There is no limit.
How to clear your personal space:
Find a quiet place for yourself. Maybe it’s near your favorite window, where the sunlight streams in and the birds come by, or perhaps a quiet space near your bed or desk. Pick a place where you can stop to rest. It could even be on a mountain top or by a favorite stream, in which case use the sunlight as your candle and fresh flowing air as your incense and sage!
Pick a time, even if it is at night when others are asleep. Make a special space in your schedule for your time. Put on your meditation background if using or pause and listen to the sounds of nature around you; set a timer if you choose. A quiet meditation is perfect as well. Whatever is most comfortable for you.
Get comfortable – in a chair, on the floor with cushions, propped on a bed, however you like, but sit upright, or stand, in a relaxed way, making an energetic connection from your crown to the base of your spine, or through your feet if standing, for energy to flow unobstructed. We tend to forget we are in a constant flow of energy in our bodies. Be mindful of your body and its place in helping you clear by bringing it into gentle, energetic, comfortable alignment.
Light the incense or allow several drops of your chosen oils to fall into a small dish, or breathe in the scents of where you are in nature. Circle the incense or oils around yourself and set them down near you to fill and clear the space around you, or take a slow turn with your arms out wide to embrace the cleansing energy of the air if outside. Breathe in and out quietly for a minute or two, allowing the clearing effects of the oils and incense, or the balm of fresh air, to fill the space around you, enjoying the aroma-therapeutic effect in your body, mind and spirit. Take the candle you chose and hold it in your hands. Feel it and look at its color for a minute. (Use a nature item you found if outside) Think about the properties of the item or the chakra color of your candle. State your intention to clear and focus yourself for this new year. Ask the universe for its loving support as you do.
Light the candle and sit quietly, or hold your item up to the sun for a moment before placing it before you. Breathe deliberately and slowly with your hands open in your lap or by your side, or folded in prayer position. Close your eyes or use a soft-eyed gaze to focus on the lit candle or object. Continue to breathe. If thoughts rush in and around, look at them passing by. Notice what swirls in your head. If you choose, you can chant the sound that goes with the color candle you chose from the candle chart as a focusing aid. Chant it out loud, breathing slowly and deeply as needed for breath. Fill the air around you with its vibration. Notice your voice. Does it stop and crack? Does is flow smoothly? Does it get steadier and stronger as you continue?
Bring your attention to the sensory experiences of quiet, breathing, scent, focusing flame/sacred item and the vibration of your voice or the nature sounds around you. Ask the universe/love/God/your true self or whatever your personal connection to the infinite is, to guide you in this year or new path. Thank your higher power, the universe, nature for its loving abundance and repeat your sound or sit in silence until your time is complete.
When you are finished,
give thanks, open your eyes or bring yourself gently back into the present and take a moment to write down or record any experiences you had or thoughts that came to you.
Pay attention over the next few days. Your clearing will continue to deepen throughout your being. Write down what you notice, feel and think, and read it before you drop off to sleep at night. Think about how acting on some of these thoughts, feelings and observations will move your life in a certain direction. Consider asking a trusted friend or adviser if you want to talk things out; commit to making a positive first step or movement toward your inspired path of self-expression and growth in the new year or as you are going forward in a pivotal time of your life. The universe responds when we take action on its guidance. Namaste.

Another helpful aid
are oracle cards, if you use them. As you bring yourself back to the present take the deck of your choice, shuffle three times and either draw the top card or do a full reading. Notice and write out what resonates with you as you read the card meanings while envisioning your life path and incorporating those thoughts and feelings your meditation brought forward. Feel free to incorporate clear quart crystals or any other helpful meditative aides you may like.
