which appears to be something important in our Reiki training, and which for me, with my very English background, draws up images of kings and queens and dukes and ladies – those with prized lineages that allow them entitled benefits….
Even in many Reiki practitioners today we find people very attached to something special their Reiki lineage seems to endow them with that makes their Reiki, and perhaps them? what – superior – to others? Better than others? A contentiousness that has no spiritual home in right practice but finds a home in our human hearts.
How then do we approach lineage with understanding and humility? Read More→
When I do that, things come together in my understanding, possibilities and pictures of how things may be working together in the world of energy we live in.
Recently I was exploring information on quartz crystals. The reason they are conductive – literally used for conducting electricity – is because they have channels in them. Ions flow through them, and this process is aided by impurities in the crystals. When they “swept” the crystals and introduced specific “impurities” for conductivity, electrical output was increased. To begin with, I must clear up a mis-conception about Reiki – and there are a lot of them! This one in particular caused me some confusion and took some time to unravel. It was as I learned, and then learned more, about Reiki, and then taught Reiki, that the whole concept I am about to share became clearer to me. Read More→
This morning my thoughts traveled to a loved one suffering from a higher disconnect. I have written about this sense of disconnect – disbelief – distrust – despair – depression before as I explored the loss of connection with our higher selves, our inner knowing, our spiritual growing Read More→

As this New Year begins, I am once more brought to a place where gratitude is a recurring theme in my life, heart and mind.
Stopping to read through my documentation notes and remembering each of them in a special way as I perused their paperwork, I was struck by several areas of interest. The first was the joy of remembering working with them. Each client and each session is unique. I was reminded of the individual nature of the experience of Reiki and how it meets individual needs. The common thread in all is that beautiful moment when the session ends and I see in them the gentle changes of their encounter with Reiki. Read More→
I was reflecting that the earlier pink ones I had seen (the original color is white or clear) must have been for Breast Cancer Awareness (they are). A lovely acquaintance of mine, Patty Franchi Flaherty, founded a non-profit organization dedicated to accelerating research for eradicating Ovarian Cancer called Ovations for the Cure and I was reflecting on her chosen color of teal thinking that the next Lokai color should be teal. Lokai, by the way, is Hawaiian and means unity. The bracelets contain elemental substance from one of the highest and lowest points on earth to help us create balance.
We embrace it in new practices such as “mindfulness” and “awareness”; in yoga and in books such as Eckhart Tolle’s Practicing the Power of Now and Ram Dass’ Be Here Now. It is a movement borne of the need to become conscious of the unconscious; to understand and work with the circuits and paths of the brain used in the automatic processing of parts of its environment and responses. We are efficiently coded so that we need to expend less and less time on those functions that have become mapped in our brains. As a result, we are not paying attention, we are on automatic pilot, so that we can use our conscious, controlled response mechanisms for those items we choose. This is all well and good as long as our automatic responses are healthy. When we have put things on automatic response that are not healthy to our well-being, we are suddenly and consciously confronted with dis-ease. Read More→
